Jordan to visit Harding, Hayes homes on Presidents' Day
Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) will visit the home of President Warren G. Harding in Marion, and the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museums in Fremont on Presidents’ Day, February 20, to meet with students and attendees and encourage a greater appreciation for Ohio’s presidential history.
At the Harding Home Presidential Site (380 Mt. Vernon Ave., Marion), Rep. Jordan will speak and meet with attendees. Weather permitting, he will visit with attendees on the front porch of the house, a tradition of our 29th president while campaigning and after taking office.
At the Hayes library and museums (Spiegel Grove, Fremont), Jordan will sponsor up to 100 horse-drawn sleigh rides for children who can correctly answer presidential trivia questions, including those about our 19th president. The questions will be provided at www.rbhayes.org so kids can research the answers to the questions and bring the answers to the event.
Of the events Rep. Jordan said:
“Ohio has played a rich role in our nation’s presidential history. I hope families can come out and spend some time at the Harding Home Presidential Site and the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museums, and gain a greater appreciation for who these presidents were and what they continue to mean to our state and country.”
Ohio was home to eight presidents, beginning with William Henry Harrison, whose term began in 1841 and ending with Warren G. Harding in 1921.
