Holiday Mail for Heroes
Congressman Jim Jordan encourages support for "Holiday Mail for Heroes," sponsored by the American Red Cross to send holiday greeting cards to members of the U.S. military. The American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes, Inc. will ensure that all cards sent to U.S. service members during the third annual mail drive will arrive safe and in time for the holidays.
Cards should be sent to:
Holiday Mail for Heroes
P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456
Cards will be collected until Dec. 7 and sent throughout the U.S. and around the world.
A few rules and restrictions apply. Only cards, not letters, will be accepted. All cards must be signed. Since cards could go to a service member on active duty, their family, or a former service member, all cards must be entitled "Dear Service Member, Family or Veteran." There is a limit of 15 cards per person or 50 for a school class or business group. Groups of cards should be bundled in single, large envelopes—it is not necessary to include individual envelopes or postage for cards.
Additionally, do not include personal information such as a home or e-mail address, do not use glitter since this can harm wounded recipients, and do not include inserts of any kind because they will be removed during the screening process.
