Defense
A strong national defense is vital to the long term security and stability of our nation. We must continue to invest in cutting edge technologies that will preserve our military superiority and act as a deterrent against rogue states that would do us and our allies harm. Continuing our fight against international terrorism is also vital to long term security and stability. We must remain steadfast in getting the job done in Iraq and Afghanistan, supporting our troops and giving them the tools they need to succeed, and working to equip the local governments with the training and know how they need to reunify and rebuild their countries.
I was able to see firsthand some of our troops’ progress during a visit to Iraq in July 2007. It is my hope that through continued progress, Iraq will grow into a peaceful and prosperous country, providing us with an excellent ally and influencing the whole Middle East toward peace and democracy.

"Today President Trump will visit the U.S./Mexico border and reaffirm his commitment to securing our border. Under President Trump, the number of people trying to enter the U.S. illegally has dropped significantly. But we need to do more. I agree with the president that secure borders are a vital part of our national security. For the good of our country, Congress should include border wall funding in government funding legislation this fall.

The chairman mentioned that before the attack ended, no military assets were headed towards Benghazi. But what did start before the attack was over was the political spin.
"For the past seven years, the Obama administration has systematically eroded the Constitutional freedoms of the American people while failing to secure our borders and protect our country from the growing threat of terrorism.
Rep. Jordan asked Bersin about how many of the 20 million people who visit the U.S. each year under the U.S. visa waiver program had overstayed their visas, but Bersin was unable to answer his question
"Throughout our history, it has been the sacrifices of brave men and women in our Armed Forces that have ensured we can continue to live securely in the greatest land of freedom and opportunity that has ever existed. We can never repay the debt we owe for the sacrifices that they have paid, but we can honor them for their service. We once again, on this Veterans Day, express our deepest gratitude."
