House Freedom Caucus To Oppose Homeland Security Bill, H.R. 5611

July 6, 2016
The House Freedom Caucus released the following statement:

"The House Freedom Caucus opposes the Homeland Safety and Security Act, H.R. 5611, for failing to do enough to address the threat of radical Islamic terrorism and because of the inclusion of gun control provisions that fail to adequately protect due process.

Additionally, significant portions of the bill did not go through the regular committee approval process. Committees of jurisdiction should work to improve the bill. We stand ready to assist in that process to best address the greatest threats posed to the homeland."

Mission statement of the House Freedom Caucus:

"The House Freedom Caucus gives a voice to countless Americans who feel that Washington does not represent them. We support open, accountable and limited government, the Constitution and the rule of law, and policies that promote the liberty, safety, and prosperity of all Americans."
