Jordan Announces Grant for Alger Community Fire Association

May 13, 2009
Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) announced today that the Department of Homeland Security has approved a $38,033 operations and safety grant for the Alger Community Fire Association.

"This is outstanding news for Alger," Jordan said. "This grant will help Alger's first responders be better prepared to fight fires and save lives."

The funding is made available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, through which DHS will award roughly $500 million to fire departments and other emergency responders across the nation this year.

Since the program's inception in 2001, more than $11 million has been awarded to fire departments in Ohio's Fourth Congressional District. Alger received $38,921 in AFG funding last year.
