Jordan Announces Grant for Kenton Fire Department
January 28, 2011
Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) announced today that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has approved a $33,773 operations and safety grant for the Kenton Fire Department.
"This is outstanding news for Kenton," Jordan said. "Competition for firefighter grants is always tough, and it's a tribute to the department that its application was approved." Jordan wrote to DHS last year in support of Kenton's application.
The funding is made available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, through which DHS will award roughly $390 million to fire departments and other emergency responders across the nation this year.
Since the program's inception in 2001, more than $16.7 million has been awarded to fire departments in Ohio's Fourth Congressional District. Kenton received $44,730 in AFG funding in 2003.
