Jordan questions Interior assistant secretary about proposed Stream Protection Rule

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Health Care, Benefits, and Administrative Rules, co-chaired a joint subcommittee hearing titled "Examining the Stream Protection Rule" with Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wisconsin) and her Subcommittee on the Interior today. The hearing focused on the development and substance of the proposed Stream Protection Rule (SPR). The SPR would revise regulations under the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act for surface coal mining that occurs close to streams.
During the hearing, Rep. Jordan questioned U.S. Department of the Interior Assistant Secretary Janice Schneider about the Obama administration's interactions with state partners throughout the process of creating the proposed SPR.
