Jordan statement on appeals court ruling Halbig v. Burwell

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) released the following statement after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit's ruling today upholding a challenge to Obamacare health insurance subsidies being granted through the federal exchange:

"From the Defense of Marriage Act, to immigration, to the implementation of his signature healthcare law, President Obama has demonstrated time after time his desire to unilaterally change the laws passed by Congress. Today's court ruling points out yet another example where the Obama administration ignored the rule of law. The president needs to be held accountable, and the courts are beginning to do just that. Today's decision is just the latest in a string of decisions, including the Supreme Court's 9-0 ruling on recess appointments and its 5-4 ruling on religious liberty, that repudiate the unconstitutional practices of the Obama administration.

"Today's ruling also highlights that Obamacare is a broken law that needs to be repealed and replaced. Only then can we ensure that America's health care system remains the best in the world."
