Jordan statement on new HHS policy exempting religious entities from contraceptive mandate

October 6, 2017
Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) released the following statement regarding the Trump administration's new Department of Health and Human Services policy protecting religious entities from the Obama administration's contraceptive mandate:

"Today's decision by the Health and Human Services department is a significant, concrete victory for people of faith. The HHS mandate forced religious employers to pay for services that violated their consciences. Today's decision protects their First Amendment rights to freely exercise their religious beliefs and conscience rights. I applaud President Trump and his administration for boldly standing up for the Constitution and the First Amendment."
