Jordan Takes Oath of Office As Member of 110th Congress
May 6, 2009
Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) expressed his appreciation to the people of Ohio's Fourth Congressional District as he was sworn in today as a member of the 110th Congress. "It's a high honor and privilege to be able to work on behalf of Ohio's families in Congress," Jordan said. "I thank the people of the Fourth District for this opportunity."
Jordan was elected to his first term in the United States House of Representatives in November, following a distinguished 12-year career in the Ohio General Assembly where he established a solid record as a leader in fiscal conservatism and defending traditional values.
The oath of office was administered shortly after noon by Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi during the opening ceremonies in the House chamber. Jordan's first vote was in favor of a fellow Ohioan, Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester), to serve as Speaker.
"I look forward to working with Speaker Pelosi and Minority Leader Boehner and all of my colleagues to help families and taxpayers in our district and across the nation."
Jordan was joined for opening day ceremonies by his wife, Polly, and their children. Dozens of constituents from throughout the Fourth District also traveled to Washington to mark Jordan's swearing-in.
Jordan's office is located in Room 515 of the Cannon House Office Building, across the street from the U.S. Capitol. He also maintains offices in Findlay, Lima, and Mansfield.
"I've been given a great responsibility by the voters, and will do all I can to justify the faith that has been place in me," Jordan said. "I'm ready to go to work on their behalf."
