Reps. Jordan, Davidson host Facebook Live discussion about repealing Obamacare

January 17, 2017
Congressmen Jim Jordan (OH-04) and Warren Davidson (OH-08) co-hosted a Facebook Live discussion today to share their views on congressional efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and to answer questions about repealing and replacing Obamacare.

During the discussion, Reps. Jordan and Davidson covered issues from pre-existing conditions to the timeline of repeal to defunding Planned Parenthood.

During the discussion, Rep. Jordan said, "It's time to put out the fire that Obamacare has started. And I always start from this premise: Healthcare will be better and less expensive when Obamacare is gone. The mandates, the taxes, and in particular the regulations we put on insurance companies that drive up the cost. That has got to go so we can get to a market where there's actual choice – a consumer-, patient-, family-driven and doctor-driven model versus the model we have now, which is Washington-focused and Washington-driven.

"And I always tell folks never forget everything we were told about Obamacare that turned out to be false. I call them the nine lies of Obamacare. Like your plan, keep your plan; like your doctor, keep your doctor; premiums will go down; premiums will go down an average of $2500; deductibles will go down; the website will work; the website's secure; emergency room visits will decline – they haven't they went up; and of course the 23 co-ops that were created that were supposed to be the end-all, save-all, be-all – 18 of those went bankrupt in just a two-year time-frame. So everything we were told about this thing turned out to be false. It is truly a fire. Let's have the firefighters come in and put out the fire and fix this thing. And the way you fix it is first get rid of every single bit of Obamacare. And then put in place those policies that empower people."
