"Conservatives in Congress support free trade. We have been and still are willing to work with our leadership to make this legislation better. Our leadership tried to compromise with Democrats instead of us, and now we know that strategy failed.

During a hearing today before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Health Care, Benefits, and Administrative Rules, Export-Import Bank Acting Inspector General Mike McCarthy revealed that American taxpayers could be on the hook for $150 million after an Ex-Im Bank-backed Australian satellite company NewSat declared bankruptcy.

Today's hearing continues the Committee's important work examining the Export-Import Bank. In just 19 days the Bank's charter is set to expire. When this happens, the sky will not fall. The seas will not rise. In fact, in my view, and in the view of many economists, quite the opposite will happen.
