Congressman Jim Jordan issued the following statement upon learning of the proposed closing of the Ontario stamping plant by June 2010:

"I am deeply concerned about the impact this decision will have on the GM workers and their families, as well as on the City of Ontario and Richland County. I have visited the Ontario plant multiple times. It is a top-notch facility with recent capital investment, and its employees are among the best workers in the nation."

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) today joined a select group of three Republican leaders in developing a list of proposed federal budget cuts requested of House Republicans by President Barack Obama.

 

After proposing over $4 trillion in new federal spending and borrowing over half of next year's proposed budget, President Obama suggested that his administration would be willing to cut 0.0025 percent from federal spending.

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) hailed House passage of a supplemental defense spending bill for Fiscal Year 2009 that includes a major boost in funding he requested for work performed at Lima's Joint Systems Manufacturing Center (JSMC).

"This is great news both for our troops and for the men and women at JSMC who provide the military with the equipment it needs to defend our nation," Jordan said.

Today's economic conditions, though not comparable to what Churchill faced in World War II, are among the most challenging in American history, with rising unemployment, an ailing housing market, declining stock market, credit crunch, high energy prices, and out-of-control government spending.

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) announced today that the Department of Homeland Security has approved $4,901 in operations and safety funding for the Vanlue Fire Department.

The funding is made available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, through which DHS will award roughly $500 million to fire departments and other emergency responders across the nation this year.

I still remember the excitement in the air on January 20, when millions of Americans gathered on the National Mall to witness history. Given the flurry of activity from the new White House, it is hard to believe it has only been 100 days since President Barack Obama took office.

Now that the initial honeymoon period has passed and the nation begins to assess the Obama agenda, I fear that our children and grandchildren may come to regret a number of the early decisions made by President Obama and Congress.
