The House Freedom Caucus released the following statement following the passage of theConscience Protection Act of 2016 on Wednesday:

"Today the U.S. House of Representatives passed a critical piece of legislation that will protect medical providers and religious institutions' conscience rights – and ultimately their religious freedom.

While questioning Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Chairman Martin Gruenberg about Operation Choke Point during a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) noted that the FDIC's actions bore a resemblance to the Internal Revenue Service's targeting of conservative organizations.
