Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) expressed his frustration during today's hearing before the Select Committee on Benghazi, following statements by Todd Keil, a member of the Independent Panel on Best Practices. During the hearing Keil said that the U.S. Department of State decided against implementing the number one recommendation made by the Best Practices panel – to establish an undersecretary for diplomatic security position.

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana), chairman of the U.S. House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Job Creation and Regulatory Affairs, will chair a hearing tomorrow on inconsistencies between sworn testimony before the Oversight Committee and recent discoveries by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) related to the missing e-mails of former IRS employee Lois Lerner.

Rep. Jordan will also participate tomorrow in the first public hearing of the House Select Committee on Benghazi. The hearing will focus on security improvements for U.S.

Koskinen to testify before Oversight subcommittee

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana), chairman of the U.S. House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Job Creation and Regulatory Affairs, has called on IRS Commissioner John Koskinen to testify before his subcommittee at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17. The hearing will be held in room 2154 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana), chairman of the U.S. House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Job Creation and Regulatory Affairs, has sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder demanding the contact information for former Department of Justice attorney Andrew Strelka. The Justice Department has refused to divulge the whereabouts of Strelka, hiding the former government official from Congress.

While working at DOJ, Strelka represented the IRS in Z Street v. Koskinen, a civil suit related to the IRS targeting of conservative groups.

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) will attend a veterans' court on Thursday, September 4, in Marion, Ohio. Veterans' court is designed to assist veterans whose legal problems can be definitely traced to military service.

Following the veterans' court visit, Rep. Jordan will attend the Marion County Popcorn Festival. Later on Thursday he will speak at a town hall meeting in Tiffin. The meeting will be hosted by the North Central Ohio Conservatives.

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) released the following statement today after two congressional hearings addressing the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) targeting of conservative tax-exempt applicants:

"We need to use all avenues to address the targeting issue. The Justice Department investigation is a joke investigation. The FBI told the Wall Street Journal in January that no one would be prosecuted over the IRS targeting of conservative groups, and President Obama said that there was not even ‘a smidgen' of corruption in the case while the investigation was ongoing.
