"As America engaged in a national discussion over health care for the past year, I heard directly from thousands of our constituents. Washington D.C. – Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) called today's decision by Congressional Republicans to unilaterally forgo earmark requests "an important first step in restoring fiscal responsibility back to Washington D.C."

"Congressional earmarks have become a symbol of what most Americans believe is wrong in Washington D.C.," said Jordan. "Federal spending is out-of-control, we're borrowing from our children to pay for today's overspending, and the priorities of Congress are completely out of line with the American public."
