Today, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) sent a second letter to the White House repeating his request that President Barack Obama, a member of his cabinet, or a high-level member of the President's Auto Task Force visit the General Motors facility in Ontario.

Congressman Jordan released the following statement, commending the Ontario City Council's motion to support the General Motors Ontario Stamping Plant petition, which passed verbally at last evening's meeting.
"As our community looks for answers and solutions in the days following Monday's decision, I am pleased to see that residents have come together in support of this petition. I am hopeful that our combined efforts will lead to a fair assessment of our GM plant by the Administration"

In the wake of Monday's announcement, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) today sent a letter to the White House repeating his request that President Barack Obama, a member of his cabinet, or a high-level member of the President's Auto Task Force visit the General Motors facility in Ontario, slated for closure in June 2010.
"The decision to close the Ontario facility, one of the most productive and efficient automotive operations in the nation, lies squarely at the feet of the President's Auto Task Force," said Jordan.

A Botkins High School student was named the Fourth Congressional District winner of this year's Congressional Art Competition, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) has announced.
Karrie Platfoot won the district-wide competition with her trompe l'oiel bulletin board with memorabilia. This piece, entitled "Memories" will be displayed in the United States Capitol for one year.
Justin Miller of Richland County's Plymouth High School was named runner-up, while John Embry of Logan County's Indian Lake High School took third place.

Congressman Jim Jordan issued the following statement upon learning of the proposed closing of the Ontario stamping plant by June 2010:
"I am deeply concerned about the impact this decision will have on the GM workers and their families, as well as on the City of Ontario and Richland County. I have visited the Ontario plant multiple times. It is a top-notch facility with recent capital investment, and its employees are among the best workers in the nation."

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) today joined a select group of three Republican leaders in developing a list of proposed federal budget cuts requested of House Republicans by President Barack Obama.
After proposing over $4 trillion in new federal spending and borrowing over half of next year's proposed budget, President Obama suggested that his administration would be willing to cut 0.0025 percent from federal spending.

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) hailed House passage of a supplemental defense spending bill for Fiscal Year 2009 that includes a major boost in funding he requested for work performed at Lima's Joint Systems Manufacturing Center (JSMC).
