During the hearing, Rep. Jordan made the following comments:
The hearing, titled "Examining the Export-Import Bank's Mandates," will be held at 1 p.m. Eastern tomorrow in 2154 Rayburn House Office Building. Rep.
"The House Freedom Caucus urges Republican leadership to allow the House to consider H. J. Res. 43, a resolution to disapprove of the District of Columbia Council's recently-passed Reproductive Health Non-Discrimination Act of 2014 (RHNDA), as soon as possible this week before the law goes into effect.
"The House Freedom Caucus opposes reauthorizing the Export-Import Bank, and urges Republican leadership to not bring to the House floor any legislation that would do so. The Ex-Im Bank is the ‘bridge to nowhere' of corporate welfare, and is a classic example of crony capitalism. The Bank has failed to comply with reform requirements included in previous reauthorizations.
"Marriage should be defined as it has always been. This is the ideal for raising children and is good for society. But while Americans are deeply divided on this issue, we should be able to agree that a Supreme Court decision would only exacerbate that division. Like the Roe v.
"The IRS systematically targeted the First Amendment rights of the American people. The legislation we passed today will go a long way in making sure that such targeting never happens again.
